Affinia to open new Mexico location

Affinia Group has announced plans to establish a brake production and distribution facility in Juarez, Mexico. The 200,000 sq. ft. location will initially be focused on brake shoes and other brake components previously manufactured in the U.S.

The company said it anticipates beginning production at the facility in the fourth quarter of this year with full production capabilities by the second quarter of 2009.

In addition, the company named Bill Sheehan vp of sales for Global Filtration and Tom Rafferty vp of sales for Global Brake & Chassis. Sheehan has 25 years of aftermarket experience, previously serving as vp of Affinia’s WIX branded products. Rafferty also has over 25 years of industry experience, most recently serving as director of program distribution for Affinia’s brake and chassis business.

Affinia, which has manufacturing and distribution facilities throughout North America, China, India, South America and Europe, produces brands such as WIX, Raybestos, AIMCO, Brake Pro, McQuay-Norris and Spicer.
