Air intake throttle

May 17, 2013

An air intake throttle from Norgren is said to precisely regulate airflow so emissions control systems operate at peak efficiency.

Managing airflow is essential to boosting the EGR while maintaining high exhaust temperatures for maximum SCR and DPF efficiency, Norgren said.

The corrosion resistant design incorporates FKM seals, high temperature-range greases, steel gears, pressure die cast housings and a durable brushless electric geared motor. The machined flap meets tight tolerances inside the bore for precise sealing and is spring loaded to default to the open position as a failsafe. The brushless motor withstands vibration and high temperature to retain great precision over millions of cycles. The compact unit is available in multiple sizes to fit virtually any commercial vehicle design.
