Bosch adds to medium-duty brake pad line

June 8, 2012

Component maker Bosch is adding 24 new models of brake pads to its QuietCast series, designed for medium duty truck operations.

The company said QuietCast pads are designed to improve medium duty stopping power while increasing pad life, making stops quieter, reducing dust production, and boosting pedal feel.

“Our blends of friction material are application-selected based on a host of factors that affect vehicle braking. Obvious factors include vehicle weight and typical duty cycles for medium duty truck,” said David Terry, senior product manager–friction for Bosch Automotive Aftermarket Brake Components in North America.

“But more subtle considerations include rotor diameter and thickness, and even caliper brackets,” he noted. “Friction compounds are carefully selected to assure quiet, reliable, and long-lived braking on all types of vehicles.”

Terry added that color labels on QuietCast boxes include images to make it easier for the installer to recognize the box as a medium duty truck product.
