After traveling over 4,000 miles by cargo ship and truck, the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree arrived at its destination this week in Washington, D.C. Officially lighted during a special ceremony on Dec. 2 on the Capitol’s West Lawn – a ceremony co-hosted by U.S. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Stephen Ayers, architect of the Capitol – the 74-foot Alaskan Lutz spruce will be illuminated from dusk until 11 p.m. every night for the remainder of the holiday season.
