ConocoPhillips unveils newest synthetic engine oil

ConocoPhillips has introduced a premium tier API CJ-4 diesel engine oil, the Kendall SHP Diesel 5W40 full synthetic, designed for lubrication of low emissions diesel engines with after-treatment devices as well as older engines, the company said.

“Kendall SHP Diesel 5W40 Full Synthetic has the potential to improve the fuel economy relative to a 15W40 oil, benefiting customers through reduced fuel usage,” said Reginald Dias, director of commercial products, ConocoPhillips Company.

According to ConocoPhillips, the synthetic provides superior soot control, wear protection and low temperature pumpability in extreme service conditions, meeting 2007 low emissions regulations and heavy-duty engine oil specifications for Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Mack and Volvo.

In addition, the 5W40 features increased oxidation stability, better low temperature viscometrics and low lead corrosion, the company said. It is currently available in bulk and drums.
