Continental offers free TPMS glossary of terms

June 6, 2014

Continental Commercial Vehicles & Aftermarket is making available free of charge a comprehensive glossary of industry terms specific to Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).

Continental manufactures complete OE TPMS and OE-engineered TPMS replacement parts and is the maker of the VDO REDI-Sensor multi-application TPMS sensor.

The 10-pg glossary includes definitions and descriptions for over 93 industry-wide TPMS service- and parts-related terms.

According to Steve Landis, Continental product manager, the new glossary was developed to help both parts suppliers and technicians better communicate and understand the complexities of TPMS service and the wide variety of terms used in this “rapidly expanding automotive service category.”

The glossary is available gratis via this link at the VDO REDI-Sensor website. From there, it can be downloaded for easy reference as a PDF. The glossary has also been indexed by Google for easy searching.

Continental noted that its REDI-Sensor was developed to simplify  the servicing of TPMS sensors as it replaces over 200 OE sensors with only four sensor SKUs.
