Delco Remy breaks tradition with new alternator

May 16, 2008 11:55 AM

Times are changing, and Delco Remy is answering the call for change with the introduction of an alternator that’s been updated with a multitude of new advanced engineering features. The 24SI HP, Delco Remy said, replaces the ‘310, which has long been the standard for aftermarket replacement brush-style alternators.

Setting itself apart from its competition, Delco Remy has made the 24SI HP with a Dual Internal Fan (DIF) design that provides maximum cooling technology. Dual fans mean greater air circulation over the alternator electronics. That allows the alternator to run at lower temperatures, which improves the operating efficiency and durability of the unit, the company explained.

The 24SI HP has also been designed to cope with the ever increasing electrical loads on today’s trucks and school busses. It produces 160 amps of output at road speeds, and an industry leading 100 amps at low engine idle speeds. The improved design efficiency translates into fuel savings for fleet users.

“Over 450,000 24SI model alternators have been installed on original equipment already,” said Tim Barnes, Aftermarket Product Manager. “We are proud that our new 24SI HP brush-style alternator can now serve as a more efficient and durable alternative for the heavy duty aftermarket.”
