LOUISVILLE. Dometic Corporation’s Automotive business group announced the addition of a new under-bunk refrigerator

LOUISVILLE. Dometic Corporation’s Automotive business group announced the addition of a new under-bunk refrigerator as well as a new series of portable refrigerators/freezers for trucks. The new under-bunk unit, called the CD-30, provides more than a cubic foot of interior space and features a slide-out drawer to make it suitable for locating in out-of-the-way spaces.

The CD-30 is 9.8 inches high by 17.5 inches wide and 28.25 inches deep. It weighs 39.7 pounds and runs on standard 12- or 24-volt DC power. According to Dometic, the compressor from Danfoss is designed for long life and an oversized condenser helps to protect it against overheating.

“Last year, we developed an under-bunk refrigerator specifically for Freightliner as a factory option for new Cascadia trucks,” said Lou Siegel, senior vp of strategic development, Dometic Automotive. “The product was so well received that we are now introducing a similar model for the trucking OEM and aftermarket sectors.”

The new “CoolFreeze” portable refrigerators/freezers are designed to provide additional cold storage. The top-loading units range in capacity from 1.1 to 3.77 cubic feet and are designed to fit into tight spaces, such as between the seats or in a side storage locker. CoolFreeze units are driven by a DC-powered Danfoss compressor and can be programmed to serve as either a refrigerator or a deep freezer, with temperatures as low as zero degrees F.

A mounting kit for the CoolFreeze is also available for customers who prefer a fixed installation and an AC adapter kit is also offered for operation on 120-volt AC power. The series features a three-stage battery monitor, with a low-voltage shut-off to protect against a dead battery.

In addition to the new refrigerators, Dometic showcased its new battery-powered auxiliary air conditioning systems for day cabs, construction trucks, delivery and utility trucks at the Mid-America Trucking Show and introduced an expanded line of power-supply boxes for its battery-powered auxiliary air conditioning and heating systems.
