Flying pickups in Alaska

Oct. 8, 2015

When you need to get pickup trucks into some of the remotest parts of Alaska, you transport them by plane. At least, that’s what ASRC Energy Services does. ASRC found that putting smaller tires on its 2105 model Chevrolet Colorado medium-sized pickups allowed them to fit—just barely—in the back of a Short 330 Sherpa cargo transport plane. This way, ASRC can get its crews anywhere in the state nicknamed “The Last Frontier” to monitor everything from oilfield exploration to construction; all to ensure regulatory standards are properly followed.
