Horton Inc. has introduced the EC600 electromagnetic on/off fan drive, which it said features 1500 in./lbs. out-of-box torque, compared to the 850 in./lbs. torque rating for its EC450 fan drive.

According to Horton, the new fan drive, designed for medium-duty trucks, buses and off-highway equipment, engages only when needed-- approximately 10%t of the time-- ensuring the vehicle operates at maximum fuel efficiency and horsepower.

The system also enables faster engine warming for more heat to the passenger and drive compartments as well as improved air conditioning, the company said.
