The Kenworth Truck Co. is now offering Michelin’s X Line Energy D drive tire for its heavy and medium duty truck models involved in line haul applications.

According to Michelin, the X Line Energy D tire delivers fuel economy with wear resistance by via the company’s dual energy compound tread. That means the top layer of tread rubber is balanced to deliver fuel efficiency along with wear control properties to resist tread scrub, while the bottom tread layer cools casing temperature down for low rolling resistance and extended casing life.

Kenworth said it’s initially offering the X line Energy D in a 22.5-inch version starting this January, with the 24.5-inch version expected to become available later in the first quarter of 2013.
