Michelin rolls out new medium-duty retread

June 28, 2016
New retread tire aimed at food and beverage, parcel package, and pick-up and delivery applications, Michelin says.

A new drive-position retread is on the way for regional fleets operating medium-duty trucks with 19.5 inch tires from Michelin Americas Truck Tires dubbed the MD XDN 2 Pre-Mold.

Adam Murphy, Michelin’s vice president of marketing, said in a statement that the design of this new retread tire is “optimized” for long wear life, lasting durability and traction for food and beverage, parcel package, and pick-up and delivery applications.

"Delivery fleets are faced with tough start-stop, turning and curbing conditions as they get their products to market each day,” he explained. “They demand a retread option that is as tough as the roads they drive on."

Michelin said its new MD XDN 2 Pre-Mold retread features an 18/32-in. tread depth for 190/200 tread sized tires and a 20/32-in. tread depth for 210/220/230 tread-sized tires.

The company added that the MD XDN 2’s tread design minimizes the internal casing temperature, which helps contribute to longer casing and tire tread life, while its wide open-shoulder grooves further boost wear life  and its full-depth sipes helping improve tire traction.
