Carrier Transicold has introduced the new Supra City Z (Zero Engine) refrigeration unit for trucks that eliminates the diesel engine within the unit to significantly reduce emissions and noise levels, while delivering constant refrigeration capacity even at idle speed, according to the company. The new unit is intended for the European market only.

The Supra City Z was designed to meet the needs of operators that distribute temperature-sensitive goods in urban or low-emission zones. The engine-less unit is the latest addition to Carrier Transicold's growing "City" range, which also includes the Vector 1550 City and Vector 1850 City units.

"Our customers increasingly look to invest in solutions with strong environmental benefits while continuing to ensure cold chain protection and food safety standards as a top priority," said David Appel, president of Carrier Transicold.

"The Supra City Z unit is a result of listening to customers to develop a unit that leverages the reliability of the standard Supra unit while offering improved environmental performance,” he added."
