Old Dominion opens drayage facility

April 26, 2013

Old Dominion has opened a container drayage facility in the Birmingham, AL, area. The facility will serve rail heads, container yards and ports in the area, the company said.

The Birmingham Container Drayage Operation is the third container drayage facility Old Dominion has opened in Alabama and will offer pick-up and delivery to any point in the continental United States.

“Co-located with our Birmingham Service Center, the new site will strengthen our network in Alabama, which includes container drayage facilities in Huntsville and Mobile,” said Wayne Bersch, director of container operations for OD. “The facility will allow Old Dominion to expand coverage in the Southeast. The site will also help us meet growing demand from customers who ship domestically and globally.”
