ABF wins claims and loss prevention top honors

Dec. 4, 2012

For the sixth time, ABF, the principal subsidiary of Arkansas Best Corp. based in Ft. Smith, AR, has earned the 2012 Excellence in Claims and Loss Prevention Award from the American Trucking Assns.’ Supply Chain Security and Loss Prevention Council.

The ATA Excellence in Claims and Loss Prevention Award is the only nationally recognized award of its kind, according to an ABF news release. Motor carriers of all types and sizes compete for the award that pays homage to those companies that have set the bar for claims management, loss prevention and damage control.

“This is the sixth time ABF has achieved this award. They set the standard for continuously reducing freight losses of all kinds and processing freight claims in a timely manner. The dedication to loss prevention training is critical to its success,” said Walter Fountain, national chair of the ATA Supply Chain Security and Loss Prevision Council.

“We recognize that each pallet, carton or box is a critical part of our customers’ business and livelihood, and we act accordingly,” said Roy Slagle, ABF president & CEO. “Our supervisors and managers ensure that each ABF employee understands proper cargo handling, with experienced dock employees mentoring new hires. When specific challenges or opportunities arise, we use focus groups and the ABF quality process to address the root causes. This approach has positioned ABF as the foremost provider when it comes to delivering shipments on time, intact, and damage free.”
