Iowa Highways 59 & 2 to be resurfaced this summer

April 26, 2013

Two of the most heavily traveled highways in Page County Iowa — Highway 2 and Highway 59 — will be under construction this summer, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.

Scott Suhr, District 4 transportation planner for IDOT said Highway 2 will be resurfaced from Shenandoah to Clarinda and the project on Highway 59 goes from Shenandoah to just north of the Essex turnoff.

Suhr told the Valley News the projects will most likely begin in May or June. He said that projects this size generally take two to three months to complete.

There will be a pilot car and flaggers assisting drivers with each project.

Once the projects begin, Suhr recommends drivers allow themselves a little extra time when traveling between the two different areas because of the construction taking place.
