Ohio Trucking Assn. warns of police crackdown on trucks

April 11, 2012

The Ohio Trucking Assn. is warning truckers navigating the construction zone on I-270 on the southwest side of Columbus to use the proper truck lanes through the project or risk being ticketed by law enforcement.

“We’ve been alerted by the folks at Alden Law that law enforcement is cracking down on trucks using the trucks-prohibited lanes through the I-270 construction project on the southwest side of Columbus,” the OTA said in a Facebook post and on the association’s website. “The prohibited lanes cannot handle truck traffic and are being destroyed by the weight of trucks not using the proper lanes.”
“The Columbus Police Dept. is aggressively ticketing truck drivers who are using the prohibited lanes, so make sure you alert your drivers to stay where they belong while driving through this congested area,” the OTA fleet alert warns.
