Procession of 150 trucks honors slain driver

Dec. 26, 2012

A tow truck driver who was murdered in Chicago last week got a fitting funeral Dec. 22 when a procession of more than 150 tow trucks escorted the young woman to her final resting place in Lombard, IL.

Alyssa van Meter, 27, was a tow truck driver employed by O’Hare Towing.  According to a report by WGN News, van Meter’s ex-boyfriend broke into her Woodridge, IL, apartment last week and stabbed her to death.

Friends told the news station that van Meter loved to defy gender norms, and police were often surprised to see her arriving in her tow truck at the scene of an accident.
