Growth in expedited business driving team demand

GREEN BAY, WI-based truckload carrier Schneider National has announced it is offering “significant” sign-on bonuses to both company and owner-operator teams who are hired before June 30th. Those teams with prior driving experience will receive $12,000 ($6,000 per driver) when joining Schneider’s Van Truckload division and recent driving school graduates will pocket $7,000 ($3,500 per driver).

“As our expedited freight business continues to grow, so does our need to hire more team drivers,” said Paul Simmons, Schneider vice president. “New and existing customer demand provides a tremendous opportunity for great, consistent miles each week. For drivers looking to maximize their earnings potential, there really is no better option in the industry.”

According to the carrier, new teams will be able to up their earnings even more by achieving productivity incentives. In addition, the company stated that teams enjoy a ‘no-touch’ freight base as well as “best-in-class time at home along with specialized support and a CSA-compliant culture that promotes Schneider’s number-one core value: safety first and always.”

Company teams also get to drive Schneider’s newest equipment. This year, Schneider noted it is introducing 3,000 brand-new trucks into the fleet at a rate of 75 per week with “each equipped with the latest technology to ensure safety and comfort.” The carrier also pointed out that all told, many of its company team drivers earn over $70,000 per year.

Although not eligible for the sign-on bonuses, Schneider will also help match solo drivers looking for a team partner.
