Toyo earns SmartWay nod for tire trio

Three commercial tires marketed by Toyo Tires have received verification from the EPA SmartWay program. The three tires, the M137 steer tire, M127 free rolling tire for trailer axles, and the M657 drive tire, have been recognized by EPA for their ability to assist in the reduction of nitrogen oxides and to deliver 3% fuel savings. The M137 and M657 are both designed for long-haul highway applications. With Toyo Tires’ e-balance technology, the tires provide a stiffer belt package, stiffer bead construction and optimization through simulation technology, resulting in improved tire life, endurance and irregular wear resistance, said the tire maker.

“We are very pleased to have three of our premium products named to the EPA’s SmartWay program for low-rolling resistant tires,” said Ron Gilbert, director of commercial products. “Toyo Tires has always been known for offering high quality, technologically advanced medium truck tires. These tires, along with our e-balance technology, demonstrate Toyo Tires’ ongoing commitment both to the commercial trucking industry and to the environment.”
