First the bad news: Trucks with an engine model year of 2006 or older will be banned from the port marine terminals at Long Beach and Los Angeles, CA beginning Jan. 1, 2012. The good news: If you have been paying a Clean Truck Fee for a vehicle with an older engine, the ports will no longer be assessing that fee for trucks with an engine year of 2006 or older because those trucks won’t be able to enter the port at all.
PortCheck noted that it will be refunding Clean Truck Fees that were deposited in accounts but not spent. Customers should check their accounts and request their deposit refund no later than Jan. 15, 2012. Deposit refunds that are not requested by Jan. 15, 2012 may be forfeited as unclaimed deposits.
According to Portcheck, the PortCheck web site will remain open in January 2012 for payment of billed and accrued Clean Truck Fees prior to Jan. 1, 2011.
