Continental Tire North America has announced it has joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay Transport Partnership, a collaboration between the EPA and the freight industry aimed at increasing energy efficiency while reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution.

As a partner, the company has pledged to ship 95% of its freight with SmartWay carriers within three years, Continental said.

“Joining the SmartWay Partnership makes good business sense for Continental Tire,” said Dominique Lacroix, director of supply chain operations. “Our partnership with our carriers encompasses the reduction of air pollution, and improving fuel efficiency which translates to fewer environmental impacts and cost savings.”
