Eaton Corp.’s hybrid power business unit has launched a customer value calculator for hybrid power systems

Eaton Corp.’s hybrid power business unit has launched a customer value calculator for hybrid power systems, allowing potential buyers to compute the estimated return on investment for hybrid vehicles.

According to the company, the calculator estimates costs associated with operating a vehicle with a hybrid electric powertrain versus a non-hybrid powertrain. The calculator provides information for delivery vehicles—determined by truck life, annual miles driven and miles per gallon—and utility vehicles—determined by the preceding three factors as well as hours at work site per day, working days per year and idle gallons per hour.

The results include estimated price, savings and payback figures in worst, typical and best conditions, and is displayed on a bar chart with information on estimated percentage of fuel usage as well as driving and work-site savings, Eaton said.
