Descartes Systems Group has launched an enhanced route management service that the company said contains extensive road data, historical traffic patterns, real-time traffic information and point-of-interest attributes.

According to the company, the Delivery Management Suite offers extensive location-based service (LBS) capabilities, enhancing image quality, rendering speed, and geocoding speed and accuracy.

"Our customers' needs for accurate location information, combined with the technological and content advances of LBS, are reshaping the future of routing solutions. We saw a tremendous opportunity to offer additional value to our customers with the advances in mapping technology and content that are rapidly coming to market," said Ken Wood, senior vp, applications engineering at Descartes.
