Hunter Engineering has announced its B400T brake tester meets Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations to test brake compliance without a follow-up physical inspection, according to Hunter.

According to the company, the B400T determines if vehicles are safe enough to stay on the road in only 30 seconds. To use the tester, technicians drive the vehicle onto the tester plates and apply the brakes, as the load cells measure a variety of brake performance conditions.

The results are then digitally transferred to Hunter’s WinSI software, which measures brake forces and vehicle weight at each wheel. The tests check for axle-to-axle imbalance, left-to-right imbalance, static weight, dynamic weight, weight shift and rollover propensity, the company said.
