Users may be quite familiar with one of McLeod Software’s solutions – LoadMaster, PowerBroker, or DocumentPower Enterprise, for instance – but they may not know that those solutions were born out of a simple idea 25 years ago.
Company founder, president & CEO Tom McLeod, sold his first dispatch and accounting package back in 1985 to a handful of trucking and brokerage businesses. Today, hundreds of clients from truckload carriers to brokerage firms, use a McLeod product.
“It is an honor to serve the people and companies that make up the trucking industry,” said McLeod. “Our customers are fantastic. As we reach this milestone, I think about the ‘Four Rules of Business’ that I developed over time, that have helped to drive the company to where it is today: spend less than you take in, do what you say you are going to do, know what you are doing, and treat everyone with dignity and respect. It is very important to surround yourself with good people, those who care about each other and our customers.”
McLeod will officially celebrate its 25th anniversary at its annual User Conference, Sept. 13-14,at the Sheraton-Birmingham Convention Center in Birmingham, AL.
The company employs 150 and has recently entered the freight management/#PL market with its new iLens product, which offers freight procurement, load execution and spot market services. The company also offers bank-rate financing through McLeod Financial Solutions.
“My goal from the beginning was to always do the very best we can for each and every customer,” McLeod said. “It is important to listen to the customer and develop the software tools that are of value to running their business more efficiently and profitably.”
