Sars has announced the availability of the RoadTrac fleet tracking service, which uses the integrated satellite/GPRS SureLinx satellite terminal from SkyWave Mobile Communications.

“This solution combines data from GPRS and satellite networks to give customers a very low total cost of ownership while ensuring constant contact with an asset even when it’s out of GPRS range,” said Clayton Shelver, CEO of Sars Corp. “Integration of SarsRoadTrac with SkyWave’s SureLinx dual-mode terminal enables us to deliver solutions for customers with minimal lead time.”

The RoadTrac system allows customers to monitor their vehicles through a customizable map-based interface on a standard Web browser, giving real-time business intelligence, the company said. According to Sars, it offers low power consumption and dependable coverage across urban or rural locations.
