Dr. Homaira Akbari has been appointed CEO of satellite-based asset tracking provider SkyBitz. She has also been elected to the company’s board of directors.

Most recently, Dr. Akbari was executive VP of operations for TruePosition, a provider of wireless location technologies. She has also served as a senior director for Microsoft and COO of Thales Telematics, was a principal at the management consulting firm Cambridge Strategic Management Group, and worked as a scientist for the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN).

Dr. Akbari holds a Ph.D. with honors in particle physics from Tufts Univ. and an MBA with distinction from Carnegie Mellon Univ.
