Con-Way Transportation Services' four regional LTL operations - Con-Way Central Express, Con-Way Canada Express, Con-Way Southern Express and Con-Way Western Express - are now certified by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency for the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) electronic manifest program.
ACE speeds the process of moving trucks and their freight from Canada into the U.S. by providing electronic cargo processing through a single, centralized, on-line access point.
David McClimon, president of Con-Way estimates it will save 30 to 90 minutes per load on cross-border shipments, depending on cross-border traffic.
“We invested $100,000 in IT systems and programs to be ACE certified, and it is saving us and our customers significant time during border crossings,” says McClimon. “But also important to us is the contribution ACE makes to improving cross-border security, which is of significant benefit to everyone.”
