Vertrax of New Haven, CT, has added GPS tracking and wireless data communications to its SmartTrax management system for fleets making retail heating oil and propane deliveries.
The developer is using the Cloudberry tracking and communications system from Air-Trak Inc., which provides GPS location and wireless communications over both satellite and cellular networks. Cloudberry is also an Internet hosted application with an XML interface for integration with back office applications such as SmartTrax.
SmartTrax provides routing, mapping and fuel-delivery monitoring for retail petroleum fleets. Integrating the Cloudberry communications systems adds security monitoring for compliance with new Homeland Security requirements for hazmat carriers, as well as improves delivery efficiency, according to Air-Trak.
