Fleet management solutions provider @Road announced that SimplexGrinnell has agreed to deploy @Road's GeoManager MRM. The mobile management system will provide location information and real-time visibility for SimpleGrinnell's 4,000 field service technicians. SimplexGrinnel is a provider of fire safety, security and healthcare communication systems with about two million customers and 150 offices in the U.S. and Canada.

TMW System, a provider of management software for the trucking industry, reports that electronic data interchange (EDI) use among its customers rose a record 23% in March compared with the same month last year. “We processed just over a record one billion characters,” says David Wangler, president & CEO of TMW System.

A new accounting module for Melton Technologies' Horizon suite of transportation and logistics applications will allow small to mid-size fleets to manage their own accounts, according to the developer. Horizon Enterprise Accounting software is a proprietary program employing trucking-specific cost-accounting practices, Melton says. Canadian TL carrier SLH Transport has installed the Truckload Coast Information System, an activity-based cost analysis tool from Transportation Costing Group. 300 company-owned tractors and 450 owner-operators work out of 15 SLH terminals.
