Remote oil monitoring

Sensors for monitoring engine oil condition from Symyx Technologies are being developed for Stargate Mobile's onboard telematics system for commercial trucks, according to the two companies. Scheduled for introduction in mid-2007, the system will provide fleets with remote wireless access to oil quality and condition in real time.

The Symyx sensors will allow fleets to base oil-change intervals on actual lubrication conditions. Stargate Mobile, which currently provides Ford's mobile office system FordLink, will market the system. www.stargatemobile.com
