Without available mounting surfaces for GPS receivers or satellite antennas, flatbed trailers have been bypassed by untethered trailer tracking systems. However, working with Teletouch Communications Inc., Transport Continental Inc. has now fitted all 171 flatbed trailers in its fleet with remote tracking systems. Using cellular technology rather than satellite-based location and communications systems, the Teletouch self-contained tracking device is battery powered and can be bolted underneath the trailer floor.
