DCS Inc. has developed a wireless tracking and messaging system that features hosted or ASP (application service provider) Internet-based mapping and reporting, bypassing fleet installation and maintenance of software. Diplomat Express for the Windows platform, and Diplomat Ace for the handheld Window CE operating system are designed to operate over cellular wireless data services such as Nextel or regional CDPD.
Vehicle hardware for both Diplomat versions includes a wireless transceiver with an integrated GPS receiver and external antenna. In addition to GPS location, the system can collect vehicle operation data and handle two-way wireless messaging.
Fleets can download reports through any PC with Internet access and a standard browser. The hosted service supports a variety of data formats, offering easy integration with Excel, Access or other data management tools, according to DCS.
