Regional LTL and truckload carrier Averitt Express has created an automated online process for creating bills of lading (BOL) and submitting requests for shipment pickups. Called Ship Plus, the new web-based system is available to all registered users of the fleet's web site, http://my.averittexpress.com.
The system allows customers to enter shipping details into an online form, which is converted into a PDF version of a bill of lading. The PDF can then be submitted electronically to Averitt for pickup scheduling as well as printed by the customer for their records. The system also allows users to store BOL templates for repeat shipments and to create address books for common consignees.
The fleet's extensive customer service web site also offers shipment tracing, rate quotes, service reports, claims inquiries and electronic copies of shipping documents.
