Great Dane introduced its new P-101 high-cube freight van at the Mid-America Trucking Show.

As its name implies, the new model has a 101-in. nominal inside width for an increase of 80 cu. ft. of cargo space over Great Dane's standard P-Series van. According to the trailer maker, that means two 48-in.-wide pallets will fit “comfortably abreast” with less chance of interior damage during loading.

The sheet-and-post trailer also boasts a full-height, white plastic lining that is secured to logistics posts without fasteners.

The trailer maker said the lining is puncture-resistant, is more resilient than plywood and helps brighten the interior.

Inside, the van features front corners constructed with a 3-in. radius to allow for a square interior with the thinner sidewalls. The benefit is less cargo damage. Outside, durable aluminum castings cap the front top corners to help protect from damage caused by impacting tree limbs.
