Nissan Motor Co.'s Titan, introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last month, is the first full-size pickup from a Japanese OEM to compete in the U.S. domestic commercial truck market, according to wardsauto.com.
The web site quoted Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn as saying, “We have done our homework. We know what big truck buyers want.”
The Titan measures 18.7 ft. bumper- to- bumper, is 79 in. wide and 76 in. tall, and boasts a 140-in. wheelbase. Other specs include a 5.6L V-8 engine producing 300 hp. and 375 lb.-ft of torque; 5-speed automatic transmission; and towing capacity of 9,400 lb.
A crew cab version is slated for introduction this spring at the New York auto show. Nissan says the Titan, which will be manufactured at its new Canton, MS, plant, will be available this December.
