Trucking industry software developer TMW Systems Inc. has been named to the Microsoft Great Plains 2002 Solution Developer Inner Circle and was also recognized with the Global Partner Excellence Award from MS' Great Plains Business Solutions. The company has fully integrated the Great Plains accounting package with its client-server based TMWSuite management system, allowing direct data flows from all suite applications to accounting files.

Terion reports that it has extended its contract for wireless service with Verizon Wireless, the country's largest wireless provider, until 2005. Terion's FleetView uses Verizon's network to provide untethered tracking for approximately 50,000 trailers.

Frito-Lay will equip its private delivery and distribution fleet with wireless data and tracking systems from Qualcomm Inc. The fleet intends to install 1,100 OmniTRACS and OmniExpress systems in tractors and trucks running the FleetAdvisor management application, according to Qualcomm. The PepsiCo division also plans to install the company's TrailerTRACS asset management system in 4,400 trailers.

UK-based Chevin Fleet Solutions is now offering its fleet management software in North America. The company, which has just opened offices in Boston, has developed the web-based FleetWave for mid to large size fleets and the PC-based RoadBase for smaller operations. Both provide shop, contract and accident management features.

A new vehicle tracking service called uses two-way satellite communications to provide complete coverage within North America, according to the company. The service supports geofencing, Internet access to tracking data, and automatic alarms delivered via pager or email. Hardware cost is less than $1,000 and monthly service charges start at $20 for daily status reports.
