An interface for TMTsoftware's Transman maintenance management software and Comdata's BusinessLink MasterCard is saving Transport Corp. of America both time and money, according to the fleet. The interface eliminates manually entering emergency road service information while speeding up payment to vendors and providing online consolidated invoices and reports. The new system also eliminates fees for issuing Comcheks to emergency service providers.

Taking users step-by-step through the process of completing and submitting injury reports, Keller-Soft Workers' Comp Manager Plus OSHA 300 Recordkeeper also helps determine if an injury is work-related. The software also lets users track, record and evaluate incidents, develop a “return-to-work” plan and fulfill other Federal and stat record keeping requirements. Cost is $5999.

Truckload carrier R.C. Moore of Scarborough, ME, is installing the GeoLogic MobileMax mobile communications and tracking system in 168 of its tractors. The company will use GeoLogic's multi-mode system to cost effectively capture real-time information from its trucks, according to fleet CEO Shawn Moore.

Trailer Tracking Markets,” a new market study from ABI Research, finds fleet interest in those systems is increasing. The result, the study says, is that “Telematics systems vendors are now providing specialized hardware for specific types of trailers besides the common dry van, such as refrigerated and flatbed trailers.”

Link OpsCenter Broker is a web-based application for freight brokers that combines Link Logistics' LoadLink freight-matching and LinkDispatch management services on a single screen. The application also allows brokers to post loads on the DAT freight matching service, which is operated by Link Logistic's parent, Transcore. The online service is available on a subscription or pay-as-you-go basis.

Brokers and shippers can monitor changes in carrier insurance and authority status with Carrier411, a web-based system for validating motor carrier credentials. The database includes 385,000 companies, and can alert members about insurance or authority changes by fax or email, or through scheduled electronic data transfers.

SkyBitz says 10 new companies have chosen to track their equipment with its global locating system technology. LTL carrier Land Air Express of New England will use KonaWare's Mobile T&L Suite to manage its P&D operations, route planning, customer service and fleet administrative chores. Drivers in Land Air's 250-truck fleet will use Java 2 enabled cellphones or Pocket PCs to capture data.

With 130 tractors in dry freight truckload operations, RG Transport of Elwood, IN, has installed Truckload Cost Information System (TL/CIS), an activity-based cost analysis program developed by Transportation Costing Group. The new analysis software, which is integrated with the Access Plus ASP fleet management system from Innovative Enterprise Software, lets it quickly evaluate rates, traffic lanes and new customer service requests, according to RG Transport COO Dick DeBoer.

Flex-Mor Industries, a Canadian TL carrier hauling paper products into the U.S., will outfit its 60 tractors with the PeopleNet onboard computing and wireless communications system. Operating within a 750-mi. radius of its Bolton, Ont. Headquarters, Flex-Mor will use the system to simplify administration of a performance-based incentive program for its drivers.
