Members of the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) are being offered an online interactive tool that will let them compare their safety performance to national averages and review key safety indicators.

The new “Best Practices Safety Guide,” co-sponsored by the national weigh-station bypass system PrePass, will allow fleets to enter data about their safety programs and compare them to both their peers and “best practitioners,” says NPTC president & CEO Gary Petty. The online guide will also offer members information from the Transportation Team of Zurich Services on adapting those best management practices to their own operations.

NPTC also announced that it's adding online educational classes for private fleet managers interested in its Certified Transportation Professional program. Co-sponsored by Idealease of North America and International Truck and Engine Corp., the online program's first course will be Safety, Security and Compliance. All core curriculum components will eventually be added to the online offerings, says Petty.
