Peterbilt Motors Co. calls its new Model 379X, a “special edition vehicle sure to turn heads.” The driver-oriented truck boasts polished aluminum fenders, a Pete oval-pattern grille, a polished aluminum centerline hood accent and brushed aluminum dash and sleeper trim.
Exterior features include 7-in. chromed exhaust stacks, chromed “Texas-style” bumper, LED auxiliary lighting, and extended stainless steel sun visor. The interior boasts a 70-in. Unibilt UltraCab, brushed aluminum cab and sleeper trim, a four-spoke, “X-style” steering wheel and custom leather UltraRide seats. The Model 379X begins production in September.

The medium-duty Model 330 can be converted to a four-door crew cab through a new program offered by Bentz Transport Products. The conversion seats five and provides a 61-in. interior height throughout the cab.

According to the OEM, its new Low Air leaf suspension is the lightest standard-duty tandem air suspension available. Offered on all Petes, it is 325 lb. lighter than the previous version and provides a 40,000-lb. load rating.

Low-maintenance system (LMS) aluminum hubs are now standard on steer and drive axles on heavy-duty models. The hubs extend service intervals by four times and come with a three-year/350-000-mile warranty.

Pete is now optionally offering the Eaton Fuller UltraShift automated 10-speed transmission on over-the-road models. The UltraShift is a two-pedal design, meaning it operates without a clutch pedal.
