The Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) of American Trucking Assns. has awarded two scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year, seeking to help provide opportunities for young technicians to receive training.
Brian Haines of Taneytown, MD, received the TMC/WyoTech Diesel Truck Technician Scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year. A 2008 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School in Union Bridge, MD, Haines earned a 4.3 GPA and spent the first three summers of high school working closely with his father inspecting, maintaining and repairing school buses. The scholarship provides for 1500 clock hours—equal to nine months—at WyoTech’s Laramie, WY or Blairsville, PA campuses.
Daniel Reisinger of Marble, PA, was awarded a scholarship to the University of Northwestern Ohio for the 2008-2009 academic year. A 2008 graduate of North Clarion County High School, Reisinger earned a 2.5 GPA and was president of the school’s allied Clarion Co. Career Center diesel program his junior and senior years. The scholarship is provided to students working toward a degree in auto diesel technology or a bachelor degree in specialized studies, with a minor in automotive aftermarket management.
