Highway Bill in the works

The Senate passed a $295-billion highway bill last month, despite a veto threat from President Bush because it exceeded his $284-billion limit. The House of Representatives passed its own version of the bill, and both houses of Congress will negotiate the final bill before sending it to the White House. At press time, this had not yet taken place. The current funding extension was set to expire on May 31, 2005.
