Michelin North America, Inc. has announced a settlement with China Manufacturers Alliance, LLC (CMA) resolving the infringement of intellectual property rights. The settlement follows a resolution between Michelin and Shanghai Tire & Rubber (Group) Co, Ltd on multiple intellectual property litigations in various countries.
STRC and its related companies will change tread patters on Double Coin and Dyna Trac brand tires in return for Michelin dropping its legal actions for patent infringement and other issues. STRC and its affiliates also removed all versions of Michelin-copyrighted content from their websites.
Michelin initiated legal action against CMA in May of 2007 for selling the Double Coin RT606 and DynaTracRS330 tires, which the company claimed were copies of Michelin’s XZE tread pattern.
Details of the financial settlement were not disclosed.
