Red Dot Corp. has released a new battery-powered A/C system as a complete aftermarket installation kit that fits almost any sleeper on the market today.

The all-electric Sleeping Well Arctic 2000 Plus cuts power consumption by 26% over previous versions and adds a shore-power option, the company said.

Improvements to the system include a 12-volt system with twin compressors; upgraded system diagnostics; and a wireless remote control with an “option” button to reduce compressor speed and extend system operating time and battery life.

Maximum power consumption is 55 amp/hr.

The shore-power option uses 120V AC power and is eligible for rebates of up to $1,600 under the Shorepower Truck Electrification Project (STEP) administered by the U.s. Dept. of Energy and Cascade Sierra Solutions.

The unit provides up to 6,150 Btu/hr. of cooling, maintaining temperature for 10 to 12 hours in typical use. It is comprised of three pieces: an evaporator that mounts inside the sleeper, a low-profile condenser that mounts on the exterior of the sleeper, and a compact compressor unit.

The whole system weighs approximately 80 lbs. and is powered by four dedicated auxiliary Group 31 AGM batteries (not included) with a standard low-voltage cutout.

The system is available through Red Dot aftermarket distributors.
