Iowa Highway 175 bridge over Missouri River reopens

Nov. 7, 2011
The bridge over the Missouri River between Decatur, NB, and Onawa, IA, has reopened

The bridge over the Missouri River between Decatur, NB, and Onawa, IA, has reopened. The bridge had been closed since June 27 because of flooding, forcing drivers who use the bridge to use detours up to an hour long to travel between Decatur and Onawa.

Iowa Highway 175 was closed because of a large scour hole that formed around the bridge piers. It's been filled and the roadway stabilized and is now deemed safe for travel. Some additional work on the dike will be done while the road is open, according to a report by KTIV News.
