A comprehensive training program designed by J.J. Keller & Assocs. to cut inspection violations is now available complete with DVD, driver handbooks, instructor guide and CD-Rom with two separate PowerPoint presentations.

“Driver Vehicle Inspections: The Complete Process” is designed to give drivers the knowledge they need to perform proper and accurate pre-trip, on-the-road and post-trip inspections. Required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, driver vehicle inspection report (DVIR) violations are among the most commonly cited in the compliance review process, Keller said.

The training program includes a separate session on intermodal inspections along with quizzes, clip art, posters and a training log. There is a 35-minute video that demonstrates proper inspections while emphasizing the importance of the DVIR report and consequences for missed inspection points.

Proper inspections can also help reduce maintenance costs as drivers may identify unsafe conditions before an accident occurs or identify potential mechanical problems that may lead to downtime. The intermodal chassis inspection section will help drivers prepare for the Dec. 17, 2009, deadline for compliance with new inspection procedures.

The program can be ordered by calling 800-327-6868 or by going to the company’s website. Callers should reference action code 27225 when ordering.
