Carl Heikel, formerly president & CEO of national used truck dealership chain Arrow Truck Sales, is shifting gears to become senior vp-international operations for Mack Trucks, Inc.. He will report to Dennis Slagle, Mack’s president & CEO.

Mack said Heikel will direct the activities of the Mack International Operations group, which sells and services trucks in 45 countries.

International sales have been an important part of Mack’s business for decades, noted Kevin Flaherty, senior vp-U.S. and Canada, during a news conference at the recent Mid America Trucking Show, with Latin America and Australia particularly strong markets for the company’s products.

The new appointment also reflects the merger last October between Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA)—which purchased Arrow several years ago-- and Mack into a single business unit called North American Trucks (NAT) within the Volvo Group, the global truck operation of Sweden’s AB Volvo.

NAT is led by Dennis Slagle, who serves as president & CEO of both Mack Trucks Inc. and VTNA, with Per Carlsson, former VTNA president, as COO. The organization operates two distinct sales and marketing organizations and maintains the two truck brands— Mack and Volvo—as separate entities.
