U.S. sales of medium- and heavy-duty trucks in June have kept the string of double-digit increases seen in the year’s first half intact with a 10.3% gain on like-2009, according to WardsAuto.com. The last year-over-year decline was 13.8% in December.
Ward’s added that Class 6 accounted for “the lion’s share of the increase, with June sales surging 77.1% to 3,070 units from 1,733 year-ago.”
WardsAuto.com also reported that the “volume leaders”—Ford Motor Co. and International Truck and Engine Corp.—propelled Canada’s big-truck sales to a third consecutive year-over-year gain in June. Medium- and heavy-duty truck deliveries for the month totaled 2,544 units for a 25.8% increase over like-2009, according to Ward’s data.
