LOUISVILLE, KY. Detroit Diesel officials announced they sold more than 25,000 engines featuring BlueTec emissions technology in 2010, exceeding the company’s expectations for the 2010 EPA emissions-compliant engines.

“With diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) now available at more than 3,500 locations in North America, including more than 100 locations with DEF available on the fuel island, BlueTec emissions technology has proven to be both a convenient and cost-effective solution,” said Brad Williamson, director, engine and component marketing, for Daimler Trucks North America. “We’re proud of our chosen 2010 emissions solution, and our sales confirm that our customers have accepted and benefited from this exceptional product.”

The company said its BlueTec-equipped DD13, DD15 and DD16 engines have logged more than 150 million miles with fleets averaging a 5% or greater fuel economy improvement over 2007 models, creating a $2,700/truck savings in fuel on average.

“Detroit Diesel’s family of engines delivers power, performance and efficiency for any and every application,” said Williamson. “We know what our customers demand, and we deliver at every turn.”
